Hand Signals

VRVirtual Reality

Description

The Hand Signals 101 VR Training Course equips ramp personnel with the knowledge and practical skills to recognize and correctly perform the full set of standard hand signals used in ground handling operations. Trainees first observe and learn to identify all signals across Movement & Direction and Vehicle Operations categories, then progress to practicing each signal in an immersive environment with immediate performance feedback. Built-in error scenarios reinforce precise hand state, correct orientation, and consistent communication discipline.

Scope of Course

  • Course with 6 lessons combining theoretical and practical training
  • Covers Movement & Direction, Vehicle Operations and Pushback hand signals
  • Includes two exams assessing hand signals knowledge and performance
  • Designed for new starters and professionals seeking to reinforce knowledge

Foundational Training

Learning Outcomes

  • Builds recognition of the full standard ramp hand signal library
  • Develops correct execution technique for both static and dynamic signals
  • Establishes consistent eye contact and orientation discipline during signal performance
  • Reinforces awareness of signals with inverse meanings and the operational risk of confusion
  • Promotes uniform hand signal standards for safe ramp communication

Training Methodology

  • Immersive VR simulation placing trainees in a busy ramp environment
  • Guided observation and physical practice: trainees first observe each signal, then execute it themselves with immediate feedback
  • Step-by-step voice and visual guidance supporting correct technique, hold timing, and repetition count
  • Built-in error detection reinforces correct hand state, signal direction, and execution timing, with corrective feedback guiding trainees to the correct position
  • Two structured examinations assess signal recognition and performance readiness
